Fat is an important component in your dog's diet, regulating cholesterol, aiding the immune system and absorption of vitamins to name a few. Quantity is the issue. At one extreme is an indoor dog with a sedentary lifestyle, to whom high fat content will contribute to obesity. Optimal fat content for him is 10-15% At the other end of the spectrum are working dogs. A sled dog might need as much as 65% fat content in his diet, a herding dog 45-50%. Hay is vital to a rabbit's health, as it is for some other small animals such as hamsters, gerbils and guinea pigs. Hay should comprise 75% of a rabbit's diet, as it helps prevent dental disease, obesity and diarrhea. Provide your rabbit a variety of hay and lots of it as he'll eat his weight in hay per day. Did you know...
Make sure to determine the type and number of fish before investing in a tank, filters and other equipment. Tank size is critical. As a general rule, there should be a gallon for every inch of mature fish. For large or messy fish make that three inches. This is a key determinant in both the health and happiness of your fish. A larger tank (within reason) is also going to be easier to keep clean. Know your fish before buying a tank or equipment.
Reptile Products

Heat and light are critical to a reptile's health and happiness. All reptiles need heat to regulate their body temperature. For desert lizards heat be sure to provide proper UVA and UVB. UVA stimulates activity, such as feeding and breeding. UVB allows them to metabolize calcium. Tropical lizards thrive in warm environments. For them humidity is just as important as temperature. Ask a team member about our selection of bulbs and which would be appropriate for your reptile's environment. Vitamin A is a key component in a caged bird's diet, critical to maintaining healthy eyes, skin, feathers, respiratory and reproductive tracts. Good sources of vitamin A is present in many fruits and vegetables such as apricots, corn, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, broccoli, spinach and yellow vegetables in general. Seeds, on the other hand, are deficient in Vitamin A. Some pelleted bird food contains vitamin A, along with a balance of other necessary vitamins and minerals.
