Today, FBR has extended its reach across Northern Colorado and Wyoming, providing food supplies to more than 1100 hunger-relief programs. Since 1978, FBR has provided nearly 431 million pounds of food to our member agencies, which translates to more than 336 million meals for people in need. Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet announces winner of its first annual Happiest Pet Contest

Dolly-Parton-Loving, Flyball-Playing-Border Collie, TeeVee, Claims the Title with More Than 120 Votes

DENVER, (July 11, 2011) - After a month-long search for its happiest pet, Chuck & Don's - Minnesota-based pet food and supply retailer - has announced a winner. TeeVee, a Border Collie from Denver, Colorado was chosen by Facebook fans from more than 25 video submissions and will now reign as Chuck & Don's Happiest Pet for one year.

Throughout May, Chuck & Don's celebrated National Pet Month by asking fellow animal-lovers to submit creative videos showing what makes their pets happy. TeeVee was chosen by Chuck & Don's Facebook community and received more than 120 votes for his car-riding enthusiasm. The proud pup won a year's supply of Orijen pet food and a feature in Chuck & Don's newsletter, Barkin Mews®, a photo session with Paul Maynard and a feature on the Chuck & Don's Blog.

TeeVee, named for his antenna-like ears, was adopted from Western Border Collie Rescue when he was nine months old and has been making his owner, Aly Jabrocki, smile ever since. Always in the mood to play, he's known to start the day off by dropping a tennis ball on Aly's face. In TeeVee's world, a perfect day would include a road-trip to the dog park or to flyball practice. In the car he loves howling along to his favorite Dolly Parton songs.

Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet sets out to help spay/neuter 2,000 pets

Fourth Annual Bowling Fundraiser, Pins for Pets, raises money for Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program

MINNEAPOLIS, (July 1, 2011) - Approximately 90,000 homeless animals are euthanized each year in Minnesota due to over population. The Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program works everyday to provide a fix. With the help of generous donors like Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet, MN SNAP delivers high-quality spay and neuter services for animals that belong to shelters, rescues and low-income families. MN SNAP plays an essential role in reducing pet overpopulation, which is part of Chuck & Don's mission of advocating for responsible pet ownership and why MN SNAP has been chosen as the benefiting organization for the annual fundraiser, Pins for Pets, for the second year in a row.

MN SNAP's fully equipped veterinary clinic on wheels performs spay/neuter surgeries on 30-40 animals each day. MN SNAP asks pet-owners to pay a small fee, $40-$70 compared to an average of $200-$300 at a veterinary clinic, for each spay/neuter but will not restrict services for anyone who cannot afford it. It is through the support of organizations like Chuck & Don's that MN SNAP is able to provide these low-cost services to pets and families in need.

Pet-lovers and bowling enthusiasts alike can support MN SNAP and donate to the Pins for Pets event in the following ways:

Bowl for the Fix

Chuck & Don's has expanded the bowling event to two days this year on August 13 & 14 at Flaherty's Arden Bowl in Arden Hills. Individuals or teams can register to bowl at the First Giving website. Registration is $20 per person and includes two games of bowling, bowling shoes, a buffet lunch and chance to win a variety of prizes from a 52 inch flat screen TV, an iPad, and a chance to be on air with Katie K- 9 or Ian Punnett on myTalk107.1, to gift cards donated by local businesses. Bowlers must register online by Aug. 7, 2011. To read more about the events that will take place each day, visit the Pins for Pets.

Donate to the Cause

- In-Store: Pet-lovers can visit their local Chuck & Don's location to donate directly to Pins for Pets. Last year, the stores raised $45,535 and are looking to raise $65,000 in 2011.

- Online: Other pet supporters can donate to an existing team or start their own fundraising page on the First Giving website. Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet facilitates the donation of more than $160,000 to animal-related causes in 2010.

Pet Food and Supply Retailer Advocates Responsible Pet Ownership with Focus on Spay and Neuter.

(Minneapolis) - Chuck & Don's Pet Food Outlet - local destination pet supply store with excellent customer service and a wide selection of products - ends 2010 with donations totaling more than $160,000 for a variety of animal-related causes in Minnesota.

Chuck & Don's most recent fundraising effort was its annual Paw Prints campaign which took place during the 2010 holiday season. Through $1 Paw Print donations, shoppers at all Chuck & Don's locations raised $36,320 for the Feline Rescue and Red Lake Rosie's Rescue organizations. Chuck & Don's is matching 25% of the donations for a total of $45,400 which is being split evenly between the organizations, both of which aim to reduce the number of unwanted animals through spay and neuter efforts. Chuck & Don's also donated all proceeds from the sales of the book, "Dizzy the Mutt with the Propeller Butt" to Red Lake Rosie's Rescue which totaled $7,101. The book was written by local myTalk107.1 radio show host, Ian Punnett. Check presentations to both Feline Rescue and Red Lake Rosie's Rescue are scheduled for January 19 at 10 a.m. at the Chuck & Don's corporate office location.

Chuck & Don's always advocates responsible pet ownership and takes every opportunity to make a difference in the lives of pets and their owners even at the individual store level, like the sponsorship of Henry the house dog at the Minnesota Veteran's Home-Minneapolis by the St. Paul - Highland Park team members.

Chuck & Don's also organizes another annual fundraising event, Pins for Pets, a bowling day for Minnesota pet lovers to get together, do a little bowling and, most importantly, generate funds for an animal-related cause. Many generous businesses and pet lovers raised $62,384, more than double 2009's donations, which will fund the spaying or neutering of more than 1,200 animals through the Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program (MNSNAP).

MNSNAP is a fully equipped veterinary clinic on wheels that delivers low-cost, high-quality spay and neuter surgeries for animals belonging to shelters, rescues and low-income pet owners in Minnesota. The organization was so thankful for the bountiful donation that it awarded Chuck & Don's the Angel Award for 2010.
Chuck & Don's will continue to advocate for furry four-legged friends in 2011 as an educational resource both in stores, with pet adoptions and advice from the animal-expert team members, and online with the 'Ask Chuck' feature on the website and frequent blog updates.

Both sponsored events are in conjunction with the City of Lakes Loppet weekend.

The two-day National Championships includes both the Chuck & Don's 7K and the new individual start 14K race at Theodore Wirth Park on Sunday. There are three National Championships categories. First, the best two-dog teams in the 7K will be crowned the two-dog national champions (awards for the National Championship categories will be on Sunday). The pairs will compete for cash prizes and bragging rights with competitors from across North America.

A full list of rules and regulations is available on the City of Lakes Loppet website.

The animal-experts at Chuck & Don's have a few tips to prepare your pooch for the big race:

- Make a few practice runs - even if your dog is athletic, he/she will need to get accustomed to the gear and race style

- Get the proper gear - Chuck & Don's has skijoring equipment at their Roseville, Minneapolis-Calhoun, and St. Paul-Highland Park locations

- Respect other pets and their owners - this means cleaning up after your pet, keeping them on a short leash with the proper ID, and being respectful to the other dogs

- Have fun - this is a great opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in a unique way with your best friend

Pins For Pets... bowl for the fix Raises Money To Help End Pet Overpopulation

August 10, 2009; Mahtomedi, MN - Chuck & Don’s Pet Food Outlet, Katie K9 and Ian Punnett from FM107.1, Jerry the Dog, and a host of pet-loving bowlers joined forces on Sunday, August 9, 2009 to have fun and raise money for a great cause – ending pet overpopulation.

Thanks to the outstanding participation, the 2009 Pins For Pets...bowl for the fix event raised $34,000.

All the money raised by The Pins For Pets…bowl for the fix event was donated to the Minnesota Spay/Neuter Project (MNSP). By supporting programs such as MNSP, all of us can help reduce the number of animals entering shelters, and that is essential to ending pet overpopulation.

The Minnesota Spay/Neuter Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Their mission focuses on serving low-income community residents. Pet overpopulation is more rampant in low-income neighborhoods often because residents lack access to veterinary clinics and the financial resources needed to have their pets sterilized. Services provided by MNSP for pets of qualifying pet owners include low cost sterilization, microchipping, and vaccinations against distemper and rabies. For more information on the Minnesota Spay/Neuter Project, go to their website: MNSpayNeuter.org.
