QUESTION:

I have a 7yr old female poodle bishon mix. A few years back she did something to her knees(very common in small dogs). Her vet wanted to do knee surgery and we were not comfortable with it. We give her high potency Glucosamine and Chondroitin in liquid form and the Omega-3. She did get better with this, but still had some problems. My question is shouldn't the above products help her if she has arthritis? Or is there something else we can give her to help her? We really do not want to do this surgery if we don't have to. I don't remember the name of the surgery, but I know that they want to put pins in her knees, and when we checked on the internet so many people said not to do it. Have you any opinion on the surgery. Please help us with any advice. Thank you so much

ANSWER:

Dear Stacy,

I'm sorry to hear that you dog has a problem with her knee. You're right that Glucosamine and Chondroitin along with Omega-3 can help with joint pain. You can also try a product called Mobility made by Wapiti Labs.

Mobility is made from Elk Antlers and some of our customers have seen a lot of improvement in dogs that have joint pain and arthritis when using this product. Unfortunately when the knee is damaged it can only help and not heal the problem.

You and your Veterinarian will have to make the decision about how to proceed from here. I hope this helps.

Thank you
