QUESTION:

We have a 4 month old Lab. She has had issue with loose stools since we got her. We have been battling worms also since we've gotten her. We think we have finally nip it in the bud though. In the past we have been feeding her the Costco brand of puppy food. But we are nervous that this is also contributing to her loose stools. We need some suggestions on what food would we should get??

ANSWER:

Hi Katie,

I'm glad to hear that your lab puppy is doing better.

Chuck & Don's has several foods available that would be suitable for your four month old lab, if you are interested in researching them or looking to switch from what you are currently feeding. Below are some recommendations:

Large Breed Puppy Foods
Innova
Wellness
Solid Gold
Eagle Pack Holistic
Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul
Premium Edge
Nutrisource
Blue Buffalo
Precise

All Life Stages Foods
Canidae
Fromm
Nature's Variety

It sounds as if your puppy may have a sensitive system. If that is the case a limited ingredient food may be appropriate. Below are some brands that make limited ingredient foods that can help with sensitive digestion systems:

Natural Balance
California Natural

You may want to consider adding a supplement to aid with digestion and absorption of the nutrients in the food. A good one is called Prozyme. Another product that may help is the Fruitables Pumpkin and Cinnamon Mixer. Pumpkin is soothing to the digestive system and can help firm the stools.

As you can see, Chuck & Don's has many options to offer you and your puppy. All of these foods and supplements can be researched online if you would like more information. The Chuck & Don's website has links to most of the products that we sell. You may also visit any of the Chuck & Don's stores and work with any member of our staff to help you with the selection of the correct product(s).

We hope that your lab puppy continues to do well and we look forward to contributing to your puppy's good health.
