| QUESTION:
I have a Scottish Terrier, 6 years old. She constantly is licking her paws. Is it because of food allergies? What would you suggest I do for her? |
| ANSWER:
Hi Sandy, It is likely that it could be food allergies. The best thing to do would be to put the dog on an elimination diet. That way you can identify what ingredients the dog can tolerate, and after awhile you can start adding things back into the diet to see if the paw licking flares up. Some suggestions of brands that would be good to use as an elimination diet are California Natural, Wellness Simple Solutions, and Natural Balance. Keep your dog on the same thing for about 2 months before you determine what the effect of the food change is, and don't forget to keep all treats consistent with the food. California Natural and Natural Balance offer treats to match their food, and we carry other allergy friendly treats as well. "The Chuck" |
